Laffite, Jean (circa 1780-c. 1826), in U.S. history, a Gulf coast pirate  who helped defend New Orleans against the British in the War of 1812.  Laffite  immigrated to New Orleans where he established a pirate base at Barataria in the marshes south of the city.

These are true stories of this colorful gentleman buccaneer and include his visits to Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana and the people he visited there.
